A compass is a device capable of detecting polarity because it actually contains a magnet! Hold the compass in the palm of your hand. The arrow should point to the geographic North Pole. If the compass points South, it has been demagnetized. This is quite normal and easily fixed!
Remagnetizing Your Compass: Place the South Pole of a magnet (we recomend the standard bar magnet Item #10308) directly on top of the center of the compass. The magnet will grab the whole needle. Slowly slide the magnet across the needle and down the side of the compass, past eht pointed end. Remove the magnet. Your compass has been remagnetized!
About 1-3/4" in diameter.
